RI Waterfront Cruise

Registration Not Available - Coming June 2012

Looking for an exciting and fun event to attend on July 19, 2012?  Want to take a waterfront tour of Rhode Island before attending the MCA Regional Show, Ocean State Mustang Nationals (hosted by the MCCNE) on July 20st-22nd?  Join SCC and several others for a very scenic and relaxed cruise around parts of RI!  We will be leaving Warwick and taking "the scenic route", as we explore historic and scenic areas around Rhode Island!

Please note that although this is a cruise, we will be making a few stops for photos and breaks.  Two different cruise routes are being further looked into, both about the same length.  As of right now, it appears as though the route of the cruise will be a loop around Narragansett Bay, allowing everyone to see some highlights of RI including the famous beaches, historic landmarks, and we can't leave out the Big Blue Bug (as seen in the movie Dumb and Dumber)!  More information on this coming soon.

July 19th Meeting Time and Place (updated 5/9/12)Please remember to fuel up before arriving at the starting point!

  1. Starting Point 2:00PM - Toys R Us Parking Lot @ RI Mall (exit 1 off I-295 in Warwick, RI) - Please be ready by 1:45PM.
  2. Ending Point approx. 6:00PM - We will arrive back in the Warwick, RI area.  If we have dinner as a group somewhere, this time could change depending on where we decide to stop and eat.  There are a few great restaurants in the Wakefield area and more "chain" restaurants closer to Warwick.  Dinner will be determined the day of the event and reservations will be made just before we leave for the cruise!

The date and times were decided based on traffic.  If you live in RI, you know not to travel down that way on the weekend, as there is TONS of beach traffic!  By having it on Thursday, we will avoid some of the beach traffic, especially by having it in the afternoon.

Route

The total length of the route will be approximatly 100 miles and actual driving time will be 2.5-3 hours.  The route will be "tested" just a few days before the cruise to ensure it will be safe (i.e. no construction), but a tentative one will be posted soon.

Important Note

Please note that this information will be updated regularly as the time approaches.  On this route, there is one toll on the Newport Bridge.  Effective July 1, 2012, the toll is going up to $5.00 unless you have EZ-Pass ($1.00).  If you have a CB Radio that you plan on using, please specify when registering.

This is not a race and excessive speeding is unacceptable.  It is up to me AND you to make sure we all arrive safely without tickets, accidents, and injuries.  No one, including myself or any club you are affiliated with, is responsible for any actions you take or trouble you get into.  By the day of the cruise out together, everyone will receive my direct contact information for the road, allowing quick communication in case of emergencies.
